The City of Fargo to Host Open House on Noise Control and Amplified Sound

Residents are invited to provide input on proposed revisions to Fargo Municipal Code

04/23/2024

The City of Fargo will host an open house and public input opportunity on Thursday, April 25, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in City Commission Chambers at Fargo City Hall (225 4th St. N.) to discuss proposed updates to Fargo’s laws on noise control and amplified sound.

All residents, including downtown Fargo commercial and residential property owners, tenants, and licensed food and beverage operators, are invited to provide input on the proposed updates to Fargo Municipal Code Chapter 11, which addresses noise control and amplified sound. The updates seek to establish an acceptable decibel level for downtown Fargo, along with processes for receiving complaints, enforcement and compliance. Additional topics of discussion will include the acceptable number of amplified sound permits and how frequently these events can occur.

Following brief presentations by the City Administration, The Fargo Police Department and City Attorney’s Office, open house attendees will be able to participate in a discussion and share feedback on the proposed updates. This feedback will be incorporated into the ordinance revision and shared with the City Commission for its future consideration.

Fargo City Commissioners may attend the open house; therefore a quorum of the City Commission may be present.
